Chickens, turkeys, and emus, oh my!

Actually, just chickens and turkeys, because Mr. Whitten can’t talk Mrs. Whitten into getting emus… yet.  Both the chickens and turkeys are raised in portable pens that are moved about the pasture, where the birds can supplement their given rations with forage (and freedom).

The chicken will be sold at the farmers’ markets (along with the beef, lamb, and pork); we will have only a small number of birds for the 2011 season, the first season with chicken available, so please order early to be sure to get yours.  The following year, in 2012, we will have turkey, which will be sold by pre-order for a fall harvest.
